Here's a quote taken from U.S. Department of Labor, "Overall, women are not paid as much as men, even when working full time and year round. On average, women working full time, year round are paid 83.7% of what men are paid. This inequity is even greater for Black and Hispanic women."
Not only are men paid more than women, there is a greater difference with women of different races. Although the gender pay gap has narrowed since the signing of the Equal Pay Act of 1963, women earned 82 cents for every dollar a man earns according to 2020 data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (United States Census Bureau).

Women on average don't choose as high paying jobs as men do. Men work the more dangerous and beneficial jobs. An estimated 13.9 million more men work compared to women. If companies could pay women less than they would exclusively hire women.
While it's true that occupational segregation exists, suggesting that women choose lower-paying jobs is an oversimplification. It doesn't consider societal norms and expectations which can influence job choices. Additionally, the idea that men work more dangerous jobs doesn't justify wage disparity, because every job should be paid based on its value and required skills, not its risk level.
Regarding the point about companies exclusively hiring women if they could pay them less, it's important to remember that hiring decisions are influenced by a myriad of factors, not… Read more

Women have the same opportunities as men. Businesses tend to pay diligent workers more than lazy workers, this is true for both genders. If businesses could get away with paying women less than men, the workforce would be predominately women.

I think this is completely irrelevant unless you’re talking about the same jobs with the same backgrounds and the same IQ . There’s too many variables here to say one way or the other.

Women earn 4% more than men do for the same work, with the same qualifications and experience, when working for equal time. Overall, women work fewer hours, have less experience, and work in professions which pay less. This gender pay gap myth has now led companies to overspend on HR and administrative positions (which are much less skilled) in order to balance out the fictional discrepancy.
Even if women aren't paid as much as men that would be because the men working have a higher degree and a better education, not only that but most women don't work the harder more dangerous jobs that men do, it is only men that really focus on the more dangerous jobs of the situations that come.

The way the censuses is taken is not accounting for age education and preferences of the job field are not taken into account . Example the majority of child care is dominated by women child care doesn’t pay a not a lot of money.

I don't agree nor disagree, i'd need more stats to know if what the author is saying is true or false.

A lot of the "wage gap" is in the level of education, amount of work, and quality of work. In some cases yes there is discrimination but for the most part, we already have equal pay.

There are many variables that determine the difference in salary between any two people, not just for a man and a woman. Take professional sports for example. Lebron James salary is $44 million per year. The lowest salary for an NBA player is around $1 million per year. The difference is salary between Lebron and the last man on the bench is severely more significant than the suggested wage gap between men and women. Is it unfair for player #15 on the bench to be paid so much less than Lebron? Similarly, the highest paid NHL player makes $13 million per year. About 1/3 of Lebron's salary… Read more

This data is false considering it is basing none other than the average salary and now accounting for men working longer, harder hours than women on average.

Whether a man, woman, or any other identification should be paid as much as they are worth based on their experience and knowledge of the job and how good they are at doing it.
@9F985XP8mos8MO
It didn't say anything about whether it's for the same profession. Different professions get paid different amounts.
@9F9RCT5Republican8mos8MO
There is no such thing as a wage gap between men and women, and all citizens of the U.S. are given chances to equal pay. If women took more jobs in fields that offered more money in popular categories of men, they would not be saying they get paid less. Women often get paid less because they work fewer hours, and there is no discrimination in money based on race; it is all on your work ethic and your determination toward whatever career you are pursuing.
@9FBFFQX8mos8MO
For the women that are paid less then men, they might not have the same schooling or same ranking in the business that men do. Not only do we need to look into how much men make more than women but we also need to think about how some men get paid more than other men for having better requirments as well.
@9F9YKGDRepublican8mos8MO
This is based more on what kind of jobs women apply for and less about gender inequality. Men statistically work more hours, and take jobs that pay more. If there were as many women in the work force as men with as much variety in what jobs they take, the pay disparity would disappear.
